Hyvä Checkout
A checkout as quick as the rest of your Hyvä store
We’re a Hyvä agency and a Hyvä Silver Partner, working with Magento and Adobe Commerce brands doing £2m or more online. Every Hyvä site we’ve built runs Hyvä Checkout. If you’d rather meet in person, we’re right next to Piccadilly station in Manchester.
Your customer has done the hard part. They’ve found the product and got as far as the basket. Then they tap a field on the Luma checkout and nothing happens. The layout jumps as delivery options load, and the site suddenly feels like a different shop.
So we replace it with a checkout that looks and responds like the rest of your store. Your team can actually change it too. Before we quote, we check every payment, delivery and address extension you rely on.
Most projects start with an NNP Workshop, which gives you a ranked list of what to fix and what each fix is worth.
Why change your checkout?
Baymard’s research puts average cart abandonment at 70.22%. When they ask shoppers why, 18% say the site wanted them to create an account, and 17% say the checkout was too long or complicated. Those are the reasons your checkout software can do something about.
The top reason is extra costs, at 40%. No checkout will fix a delivery price people don’t like, and we’ll tell you if the problem’s there.
What is Hyvä Checkout?
It’s Hyvä’s own checkout for Magento 2 and Adobe Commerce, built the same lightweight way as the Hyvä theme. It’s a separate paid product, even though the theme’s now free. Hyvä lists it at €1,000 one-off with a year of updates, then €250 a year, and it’s included in Hyvä Commerce and Hyvä Enterprise.
It needs a Hyvä theme underneath. A store still on Luma can load Hyvä just for the checkout pages, but most stores take it on as part of a full Hyvä rebuild or migration.
What does a Hyvä Checkout project involve?
Checking your extensions first
Payment extension support catches people out. We list every payment, delivery and address lookup extension you use and check each one. You’ll know what works and what needs replacing.
Cutting the form down
Baymard found the average checkout shows about 23 form elements, when a good one can manage with 12 to 14. We go through yours field by field. We also look at guest checkout and how early the full cost appears.
Building it into your store
It takes on your brand’s fonts, buttons and layout, so customers don’t feel they’ve left the shop. We set up the steps your business needs, including trade accounts if you sell to them.
Testing what makes you money
We test every payment method, delivery option and order type on staging, along with the connection to your ERP, before anything goes live.
Carrying on testing
A checkout that’s easy to change is one you can keep improving. We can test it one field or message at a time as part of a CRO programme.
What has it got our clients?
Willow & Hall moved from Magento 1 to Magento 2 on Hyvä with us, and went straight onto Hyvä Checkout. The site got 80% faster, their conversion rate reached 3.6% and sales went up 15%. The checkout was rebuilt alongside the rest of the frontend, so we can’t credit it alone. We’d be wary of anyone who says they can split a result that neatly.

When should you leave your checkout alone?
If it converts well, takes guest orders, shows delivery costs early and nobody’s complaining, keep it. A new checkout costs money and testing time.
If you’re on Luma with no rebuild planned this year, fix what you can in the checkout you’ve got. Guest checkout, fewer fields and delivery costs on the basket page don’t need new software. Our guide to Magento checkout options compares the alternatives.
What our clients say
"What impressed us most was how quickly Actuate identified the root cause. Within the first call they'd spotted the metadata issue that had been tanking our traffic. Everything that followed has been just as sharp."
I like working with Actuate because they care about what they do, they clarify the detail to get the job done right. They have worked incredibly hard with our complex needs and have been on hand for help and advice every step along the way...
Without Actuate's help and support, our original website wouldn’t have succeeded. Time was of the essence, and Actuate stepped in to deliver a swift turnaround. The new site has performed exceptionally well ever since. We continue to grow thanks to Actuate. ❤️ Thanks guys!”
Their team leverages their expertise to provide sound opinions and advice to guide the project in the right direction.
I worked with Actuate on the redevelopment of the Pickett London website. Their team is an excellent asset for any company or team, it was a pleasure to work with them - easy to communicate with, easy to reach and always willing to help.
Working with Actuate is a pleasure — they are really trying to help, they listen and offer solutions to solve the problems. Thanks for all your help so far.
We've worked with Actuate for several years and the results have been consistent. Conversion rate up 113%, AOV up, bounce rate down. They know our business inside out, and it shows.
Frequently Asked Questions.
Ask my questionNo. The Hyvä theme became free and open source in November 2025, but Hyvä Checkout is a paid product with its own licence. It’s included in Hyvä Commerce and Hyvä Enterprise.
It needs a Hyvä theme, but a Luma store can load the Hyvä theme just for the checkout pages. Most stores take it on as part of a full Hyvä rebuild.
Many do, but check each one. We list your payment, delivery and address lookup extensions and confirm support before we quote.
Yes. Hyvä Enterprise adds support for Adobe-only features such as Gift Registry in Hyvä Checkout, so check which ones you rely on.
It depends on your payment methods, delivery rules and integrations. On a full Hyvä rebuild it’s part of the project, and most Hyvä migrations go live in 2 to 3 months with new UX and design.
Yes. Every Hyvä site we’ve built runs it, including Reliant, Helmet City and Willow & Hall.
