Shopify CRO
Clear the app bloat, then find out what’s really losing you orders
We’re a Shopify and Shopify Plus agency for brands doing £2m or more online, and we run CRO programmes on retainer. Most of our clients are nowhere near us, but if you’d rather sit in a room than on a call, we’re right next to Piccadilly station in Manchester.
You’ve probably tried some of this already. You added an upsell app, a reviews app and a popup, and each one promised a lift. The app bill went up. The store got slower, and the conversion rate barely moved.
So we start by clearing out what’s dragging the store down. Then we watch what your customers do and fix what’s losing you orders, one change at a time.
Most projects start with an NNP Workshop. If you want a read on your own store first, run the free CRO review.
Why does Shopify CRO start with apps?
Every app can add scripts to every page, and you pay for them on every visit. Shopify’s servers are quick. What you’ve added on top usually isn’t.
We go through every app and script on the store. We keep the ones earning their keep and cut the rest. Where you don’t need an app at all, we build into the theme. It costs less to run afterwards, and later tests stand a far better chance of a clear result.
AutoID’s Shopify Plus store had collected years of apps. Some were out of date, and some did the same job as another. After the cull, pages loaded 38% faster.
What does a Shopify CRO programme cover?
Finding what’s costing you orders
We use session recordings, heatmaps and your funnel from landing page to confirmation, split by mobile and desktop. It shows where people get stuck or give up.
Fixing the obvious first
Plenty of what we find doesn’t need a test. A filter buried on a phone or a delivery charge that only appears at checkout just needs fixing.
Testing the rest
We test bigger changes on real traffic and keep what wins. Not enough traffic for a clear answer? We’ll tell you, and make the call on the evidence we do have.
Working through it in order
Fixes go in order of what they’re likely to return. You get a call every fortnight and a full CRO audit every three months.
Where do Shopify stores usually lose orders?
| Where | What we often find | What we’d look at |
|---|---|---|
| Navigation | Menus that follow how you organise stock | Rebuilding them around how people shop |
| Collection pages | Filters that are hard to find on a phone | Filter order, and how products display |
| Product pages | Not enough to make someone confident | Reviews, delivery information and fit or compatibility details |
| Basket | Costs that appear too late | Showing delivery early |
| Checkout | Steps nobody’s questioned | On Plus, the checkout itself |
| Store speed | Apps and theme bloat | App audit and theme clean-up |
What did this get Robinsons of Bawtry?
Robinsons have been selling premium brands from their boutique in Bawtry since 1986. We moved them onto Shopify, and conversion went from 0.8% to 1.6% straight after launch. Three weeks in, they had more orders than they could keep up with. They had to push back their next meeting with us.
We’ve been on retainer since, working through product listings, product pages, reviews and shipping messages one change at a time. Conversion is now up 109% and revenue is up 551%.

When isn’t CRO the answer?
When there isn’t enough traffic to learn from, or there’s a bigger problem underneath. AutoID’s first problem was stripped-out metadata. No amount of testing would have brought back their search traffic, so we fixed that first.

Frequently Asked Questions.
Ask my questionIt’s the work of getting more of your existing Shopify traffic to buy. On Shopify, that usually starts with cutting apps and theme bloat, then fixing and testing what’s losing orders.
It depends on your conversion rate and how big a change you’re testing. Many stores don’t have the traffic for small tests to reach a clear answer. We’ll tell you which tests your store can support.
We check what each app does and test on a development theme before anything goes live. Where an app does a job you still need, we keep it or build that job into the theme.
App and speed fixes show up quickly, because they affect every visitor from the day they go live. Testing takes longer, and how long depends on your traffic.
Yes, both Shopify and Shopify Plus. Plus gives you more room to change the checkout, which is often worth testing.
You get a call every fortnight, a full CRO audit every three months and a plan for the quarter. We review the retainer every quarter so you can scale it up or down.
